Q + A

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO RECEIVE MY FORMAL INVITATION & RSVP DIRECTIONS?

We plan to send out formal invitations with RSVP details in April 2024.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

The dress code at our wedding is formal. We are so excited to dress up and celebrate in style with all our favorite people! Suits & ties, floor length dresses and dressy pantsuits are encouraged.

MAY I BRING A GUEST?

We are so excited to celebrate this day with our nearest and dearest. Due to limited seating arrangements, invitations are limited to the specific guests on your invite. We appreciate your understanding.

MAY I BRING MY CHILDREN?

As much as we would love to invite guests' children, our wedding will be an adult-only affair due to limited space and our desire to ensure the adults enjoy themselves. We hope that you understand this decision and will be able to join us at our wedding.

WHERE IS THE CEREMONY?

The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Patrick's family church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Glens Falls.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

The ceremony will begin at 2:00pm. Please plan to arrive at or before 1:45pm, so that you have a chance to get seated and comfortable before we begin.

ARE THE CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATIONS CLOSE?

The drive from St. Mary's to the Canfield Casino is roughly 20-25 minutes.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CEREMONY?

While there will be a two hour break between the ceremony and reception, rest assured there are many cafés, shops, and bars downtown. We hope you will find the "Things To Do" tab of this website helpful for some activities to keep you occupied. If you decide to remain downtown during the break, you will be in walking distance of the reception venue.

WHAT IS THE CANFIELD CASINO VENUE LIKE? IS IT A TRUE CASINO?

The Canfield Casino was built by John Morrissey as part of Congress Hall, which was a large resort hotel that contributed to giving Saratoga Springs its fame as the Spa City. Morrissey, a well known professional boxer and member of Boss Tweed's Tammany Hall network, first came to Saratoga in 1861 and ran a gaming house downtown. Upon opening the Club House, Morrissey had only 3 rules - no ladies allowed, cash only, no locals. These rules allowed the club to take on exclusivity that made it one of the world's most renowned gambling houses. Not even the wealthiest could get Morrissey to bend the rules, which kept his Saratoga Club House open even when gambling was illegal for Saratoga residents. A few years after Morrissey's death, Richard Canfield took a partnership in the gambling establishment. Richard Canfield bought the venue in 1884 for a quarter of a million dollars and invested heavily in the building and the surrounding park to make the Club House even more appealing to affluent visitors from around the world. In its heyday, frequent visitors to the casino included wealthy members of the Whitney and Vanderbilt families, famous gamblers like Diamond Jim Brady and John Gates as well as a host of top-notch entertainers. This era of high-stakes gambling ended in 1907 when local reformers were finally successful in banning gambling in the city of Saratoga Springs. Soon after, Canfield sold the building to the City of Saratoga Springs where it now thrives as a historic venue.

IS THERE PARKING AT THE VENUE?

There is limited parking outside the reception venue for our wedding guests. However, we highly recommend guests coming from out of town stay in downtown Saratoga Springs in one of the hotels listed on the "Suggested Hotels" page. The hotels listed are all less than 10 minute walk or a 5-minute Uber drive from the venue.

IS THERE A GIFT REGISTRY?

Please know your presence on our special day is the greatest gift of all. However, if you do wish to celebrate with a gift, it is greatly appreciated.
